Client:
A major bank.
Challenge for client:
Analyse movement of funds in and out of Current and Savings Accounts to induce customer investments with the bank.
Issues involved:
The present transaction processing system was recording ‘pay to’ details in a ‘text’ field
Large volume of data of about 1 million transactions per day.
Need of the client bank to analyse the nature of transaction based on pay-in and identify these as salary credits, MF investments and utilities payments.
The core banking system was not to be touched even for ‘read only’ queries.
Solution was needed within tight time frames and budget restrictions.
Aspect Ratio Approach:
IT department dumped daily transaction in text files to a staging area.
Our solution imported daily transactions into a database – annotating the text as per a keyword dictionary.
Analysis reports fired on database daily, weekly and monthly.
Client:
An FMCG company.
Challenge for client:
Compare actual sales with forecast sales whilst the two were in separate databases.
Issues involved:
Actual sales were logged into an ERP system. Forecasts were in spreadsheet files.
IT department was not keen on allowing an outside database to interact with the ERP database.
Forecast files were in different sizes and multiple file formats and these came in from different business units.
The comparison between actual and forecasts was required to be made at very small intervals of two weeks.
Aspect Ratio Approach:
Imported Transaction Data from ERP dumps to a database.
Imported Forecast files – after parsing data across multiple formats to database.
Generated weekly reports broken down by
Region, Territory, Sales Area, Person
Business Unit, Product Cluster, SKU
Regular Sales v/s Consumer Offers or Trade Offers.
Measured impact and effect of different trade incentives and consumer offers.
